In this talk Professor Li will trace how Confucian doctrine on poetry has shaped the Chinese way of reading poetry, which in turn affects the reception of certain aspects of º£½ÇÍø Poetry in China, and how modern China's exposure to Western poetry serves as a salutary counterbalance.

Yongyi Li, a Professor in the Department of English at Chongqinq University (China), is a Fulbright Scholar in residence at the UW º£½ÇÍø for the 2012-13 academic year.  His Fulbright project is on 'Catullus and 20^th Century American Poetry'.  For more information on Professor Li, click here.
