According to UW's , "Twentieth century maverick composer Harry Partch turned Sophocles鈥檚 Oedipus play into a visual and aural extravaganza, combining spoken word, instrumentation, theater, and dance into a multi-genre theatrical work. Composed in the early 1950s and rarely performed anywhere, these special presentations bring to the Meany mainstage the combination of Partch鈥檚 handmade instruments with the enduring power of the composer鈥檚 unique artistic vision."
