Playwright Charles L. Mee recruits 鈥渟hards of our contemporary world to lie, as in a bed of ruins, within the frame of the classical world.鈥 In his brutal, lusty collage, Trojan Women: A Love Story, Dido reads Aeneas鈥 tarot cards in a post-apocalyptic spa and Cassandra incarnates as a furious dominatrix. The war is ended, yet it is unceasing: 鈥淎 world destroyed by the hands of those who thought themselves the creators of civilization.鈥 Love songs leaven war鈥檚 ravages, and a feminist utopia glitters, unreachable, on the horizon.
RUN TIME: Approximately 2 1/2 hours, including one, 15-minute intermission.
