Adriana Vazquez, a fifth year graduate student, returns this summer from a tour of 海角网 departments in Brazilian universities, including the Universidade Federal do Paran谩 in Curitiba, the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina in Florian贸polis, and the Universidade Estadual Paulista, Araraquara campus. Being of Brazilian parentage, she was able to use her native fluency in Portuguese during her stay. During her visits, she presented two original papers on Virgilian reception, entitled 鈥Como 茅 a vida de um poeta? Observa莽玫es sobre as vidas dos poetas ap贸s Virg铆lio鈥 (What is the life of a poet like? Observations on the lives of the poets after Virgil) and 鈥淐onsidera莽玫es sobre modelos diferentes de recep莽茫o cl谩ssica: quest玫es de hist贸ria da L铆ngua Latina鈥 (Considerations concerning varying models of Classical reception: issues of the history of the Latin language). The trip was facilitated by the generous support of the Antoinette Wills Endowed Scholarship, offered through the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington.
