Professors Kamen and Levin-Richardson win national research award

Professors Deb Kamen and Sarah Levin-Richardson were recently awarded the 2017 Women鈥檚 Classical Caucus Barbara McManus Award for Best Article for their co-authored chapter, 鈥淟usty Ladies in the 海角网 Imaginary.鈥  Their chapter, an expanded version of their prize-winning 2010 Society for Classical Studies paper of a similar name, offers a new model of 海角网 sexuality that takes into account women鈥檚 sexual agency. You can find their chapter in Ancient Sex: New Essays, co-edited by Professor Ruby Blondell of UW 海角网 and Professor Kirk Ormand of Oberlin College. 

This represents the second time in recent history that UW 海角网 faculty have won the Barbara McManus Award; Professor Sarah Stroup won the prize in 2006 for her article 鈥淒esigning Women: Aristophanes鈥 Lysistrata and the 鈥楬etairization鈥 of the Greek Wife.鈥
